VCI is a professional sign language interpreting agency based in Knoxville, Tennessee. When an office, school, facility, or government entity needs a sign language interpreter, they call us. In turn, we contact our employees to find someone available for your appointment. Because we know how important it is for information to be conveyed accurately, effectively, and impartially, we provide all of East Tennessee with certified interpreters whose skills have been tested and approved by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
While VCI’s main goal is to provide our customers with certified on-site interpreters, we are also pioneering the way for new interpreting technologies in this area, including VCI On Demand (aka video remote interpreting) and Visual Documents (coming soon), informational documents in American Sign Language. These options allow customers to access interpreting services remotely or to archive an interpretation for future use.
VCI is also actively involved in the local Knoxville community. For hearing people interested in learning sign language, we offer six-week long sign language classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. For the deaf community, we provide the Knoxville Deaf Network (an online calendar of local deaf events) and the Knoxville Deaf Business Network (a support service for future or current deaf business owners). Finally, VCI offers online videos and on-site workshops that teach people about effective communication and working with an interpreter.
